Got a class action settlement notice?

You can check a settlement notice yourself, against the court that approved it, the company the court appointed to run it, and the case's own website. This site shows you how, and every date and amount on it comes with the official source it was read in and the day it was checked.
The questions a notice raises
- Is this real? A notice can't be judged by how it looks. What can be checked is whether the website and the sender match the official record, and what the notice asks you for. Start with Check a notice.
- Who sent it? A notice usually comes from a settlement administrator, a company the court appoints to send notices and pay claims, not from the company being sued. The administrators covered here each have a page.
- What do I have to do, and by when? Usually there's a claim deadline, plus an earlier date to opt out or object. See Your options and Deadlines.
- What happens if I do nothing? Usually you stay in the class, you're bound by the settlement and its release of claims, and you're paid only if the settlement pays people automatically. Your options explains each choice and what it keeps or gives up.
Check the notice
Each guide takes one question. Most have a tool that works on what's printed on your notice, and nothing you type into a tool leaves your browser.
- Is this settlement notice real? Compare the web address and sender with the domains administrators publish, and see which requests are normal in real settlements and which are warning signs.
- Your options: file a claim, opt out, object, go to the hearing, or do nothing.
- Deadlines: "postmarked by", "received by" and online cutoffs, and the days left to each date on your notice.
- How to read a notice: a fictional sample notice, part by part.
- Look up the case in the court record from the case number on your notice.
- Payments: checks, prepaid cards and payment emails, and why amounts shrink.
- Taxes: what the IRS says, and why a real settlement may ask for a W-9.
Who sent it
Each page covers one administrator: its official domains, where it lists its cases, what its real notices and payment emails carry, and why people doubt them.
- Kroll Settlement Administration
- Epiq
- Angeion Group
- Verita Global
- Simpluris
- JND Legal Administration
- Atticus Administration
- A.B. Data
If your notice names another administrator, or none, the notice check and the case lookup still work.
Settlements covered here
A few large settlements have a page of their own, with the facts from the official notice and court orders: who's included, each deadline and its kind, what a claimant can receive, and whether proof is needed. The table lists them by claim deadline. Days left are counted on your device from today's date, and the deadline itself is printed beside them, so you can match it against your notice.

Looking for settlements where at least one payment needs no receipts? See the short list of open settlements that need no proof, each checked on its official notice.
A settlement that isn't in this table can still be real. Nearly every settlement has its own website, and this site covers only a handful. The notice check explains how to confirm one that isn't listed.
What this site is, and isn't
It's independent consumer information, not legal advice. It doesn't file claims, has no forms, refers no one to a law firm, and isn't affiliated with any court, administrator or company it names. Decisions about your notice are yours. Questions about your rights go to the class counsel named in the notice, the court clerk, or a legal aid office.
How facts are sourced and kept current is set out in How we check. Who writes the site is on About.
